Guide created by u/UNDERSCOREY
Part 1: Prepare Yourself
Light Level:
The recommended light level from the director menu is 380. It is highly recommended your personal light level should be, at the very least, 385. You cannot be revived in Heroic Mode, and all raid encounters are level 390.
Collectables - Exotic Chests/Monitors/SIVA Clusters:
This guide will list the Exotic Chest/Monitor/SIVA Cluster locations in a linear fashion as you progress through the raid. If you have already collected the SIVA Cluster or initiated the Outbreak Prime Quest by activating all the monitors in the Normal Mode of the raid, please disregard this information.
The Exotic Chests in the Wrath of the Machine Raid have a chance to drop to following:
The Exotic Chest within the "Cube" (In the Server Farm area between the Siege Engine and Aksis encounters) is a one-time only drop. You do not need to open the cube each time you run the raid. Again, if you have already opened the chest within the "Cube" on the character you are using, you will not get any drops from opening the chest again. Like ever.
SIVA Cache Chests:
After each Boss encounter, two SIVA Cache Chests will spawn. One chest will be the same as you're used to seeing in the Normal Mode of the raid, and will have in-game text indicating the loot inside is Normal only. Another chest will spawn nearby that will have in-game text indicating the loot inside is for Heroic Mode only. Each chest requires a single SIVA Cache Key.
See this screenshot for an example of the Heroic Mode Chest and Normal Mode Chest. The Heroic Mode Chest is the one on the left.
The Normal Mode chest offers Normal Mode loot up to light level 385. The Heroic Mode chest offers Heroic Mode loot up to light level 400. The Heroic Mode chest is colored red to help differentiate. Both chests also offer a chance at an Exotic.
Challenge Mode Loot will be added when Challenge Modes are released
A note about SIVA Key Fragments from the Bungie Update - 10/18/16:
REMINDER: SIVA Key Fragments can be transferred between characters, SIVA Keys cannot. Please utilize Shiro-4 to convert all SIVA Keys to fragments before you start your raid. You can make SIVA Keys out of 10 SIVA Key Fragments right in your inventory. Your fireteam will thank you.

Exotic Chest 2:
From 0:38 to 1:44
SIVA Cluster 1:
From 1:44 to 2:03
Part 4: VOSIK Phase 2
Heroic Mode Changes:
- Six (6) bombs now drop instead of three (3)
- Two (2) per side - Left, Middle, and Right
- Both bombs on each side drop at the same time, about 20 feet in front or behind the other
- Two (2) per side - Left, Middle, and Right
- One of the bigger monitors in the middle row light up after each bomb throwing phase
- These monitors have increased health
- These monitors have increased health
- The doors to the "Clean Rooms" are 3/4's of the way closed
- Guardians must slide or crouch walk into these rooms
- Guardians must slide or crouch walk into these rooms
- Increased health for both Vosik and Adds
- Increased damage output for both Vosik and Adds
- Revives are disabled
Tactics/Strategy:
- General Tips/Info
- You can only throw the set of six bombs five times before a SIVA Critical wipe is initiated
- During the bomb throwing phase, the Adds will spawn in the following format: Normal Adds - Normal Adds - Adds & Captain - Normal Adds - Adds & Captain
- You can either slide or crouch walk under the "Clean Room" doors
- You can only throw the set of six bombs five times before a SIVA Critical wipe is initiated
- The biggest obstacle here is making sure everyone survives during the bomb throwing portions of the encounter
- The best bomb throwing strategy I have found is the following:
- Designate one bomb thrower on each side
- The other guardians will be responsible for Add control (higher light level guardians should take this position)
- When the bombs spawn, have the throwers pick up the bomb closest to Vosik (Front bomb), and then walk back so they are standing above the other bomb
- Make sure each bomb thrower is in position by calling out, "Left Ready, Middle Ready, and Right Ready"
- Have a designated person count down, "3, 2, 1, THROW". Throw the bombs on "THROW"
- After the first bombs have been thrown, immediately pick up the second bombs and throw
- Your fireteam can decide to do another count down instead of immediately throwing if you are having trouble landing the second set of bombs simultaneously, or if you are wiping because of adds/second bomb placement
- Designate one bomb thrower on each side

Part 6: Siege Engine (Death Zamboni)
Heroic Mode Changes:
- More total time to repair the Siege Engine. Now six (6) minutes.
- A Spider Tank now spawns in front of the Siege Engine during Phase 2 of this encounter
- Directly in front of the ramp leading back up onto the Siege Engine
- Directly in front of the ramp leading back up onto the Siege Engine
- Increased health for Adds
- Increased damage output for Adds
- Revives are disabled
Tactics/Strategy:
- General Tips/Info
- You have 6 minutes to place all three pieces into the Siege Engine. The timer begins as soon as the Siege Engine breaks through the wall.
- Shooting the core of the Siege Engine slows down the timer. The core is the part of the engine that continues to get brighter until it explodes and wipes the team, located at the front of the first floor of the Engine. For more information on this, check out u/Superius_Prime's post For those having trouble with Zamboni on WotM, shooting the core slows down the timer.
- The first three ships carrying enemies, the first being the one that drops to engine parts, will spawn regardless of your progression of the parts. Kill all these enemies before picking up the parts.
- The mines that slow your movement only spawn when the first engine part is picked up.
- Disabling the front Right leg (while looking at the Spider Tank) makes it kneel a lot longer (15-16 seconds instead of 7-8 seconds) than any of the other legs. Use this to get the parts past and up the ramp without having to kill the tank if you decide to take that approach. See u/RiseOfBacon's post WoTM Hard Mode - Helpful Tip for the Death Zamboni for more information on this.
- The engine parts are color coded according to their receptacle
- You have 6 minutes to place all three pieces into the Siege Engine. The timer begins as soon as the Siege Engine breaks through the wall.
- Phase 1 Game Plan:
- Have all guardians stand on the shipping container behind the special ammo crate that spawns
- When the encounter begins, have a titan drop down directly in front of the container and pop a bubble. Your fireteam will now be mostly safe from enemy fire as long as they stay as far back as possible and crouch.
- Shoot the Siege Engine Turrets & Core
- Have a hunter smoke bomb the team or tether the Adds, and make your way back onto the Siege Engine
- Have all guardians stand on the shipping container behind the special ammo crate that spawns
- Phase 2 Game Plan:
- Move towards the other end of the map while the first Skiff approaches
- Kill Adds and the Captain to get the engine parts. DO NOT PICK THEM UP YET!
- Wait for the next Skiff to drop off Adds and then kill them
- Wait for the third Skiff to drop off Adds and then kill them
- Have all but one of your team move the parts and clear mines
- Have one guardian B-line it across the left hand side of the map and onto the Siege Engine to take out Meksis (The Captain at the top of the Siege Engine)
- Everyone then kills the remaining Adds and the Spider Tank
- Walk the pieces onto the Siege Engine and place them in their corresponding receptacles
- Anyone who isn't carrying a part should be shooting the Siege Engine Core to give your team extra time
- Move towards the other end of the map while the first Skiff approaches
From 1:18 to 1:49

From 3:31 to 3:55
Part 7: Server Farm
Server Farm Map created by u/Vartemis for those who get lost easily.
SIVA Cluster 4:
From 3:55 to 4:10
Monitor 4:
This Monitor is usually referred to as the "Monitor Puzzle", or "Canister Puzzle", or "How to open the Cube/Diamond". To gain access to this monitor, you will need your fireteam of 6 to solve a binary puzzle within the Server Farm and have guardians stand on specific canisters in the Cube Room.
The easiest way I've found to accomplish this task is as follows:
- Assign Roles:
- Designate one person as the "Leader"
- The Leader will be responsible for telling people where to stand and interpreting the binary clues (Don't worry, you won't have to interpret any binary, you simply need to have a computer nearby and the ability to communicate effectively)
- Designate four (4) people as the "Jumpers" in the Cube Room
- Designate the last person as the "Monitor Reader"
- Designate one person as the "Leader"
- Get Into Position:
- The Leader should then navigate the Monitor Reader to Monitor 1 within the Server Farm
- Refer to the Server Farm Map for Monitor 1 and Monitor 2 locations
- The Monitor Reader should just hang out here and ponder their life choices
- Next, the leader should take the Jumpers to the Cube Room if they are not already there
- The Leader should then navigate the Monitor Reader to Monitor 1 within the Server Farm
- Explain What Will Happen:
- In the Cube Room, the Leader should explain the following:
- There are four (4) sections: 00, 01, 02, and 03. These sections can be identified by the large numbers on the walls of the room.
- Each Jumper will be responsible for a single section. The Leader should assign a section to each of the Jumpers now.
- Within each section, there are 5-6 columns of canisters. These columns are identified by the smaller numbers written on the support structures holding the canisters in place. See this screenshot for an example of columns 0, 1, 2, and 3.
- Within each column are the canisters. These canisters can be considered "positions" where the Jumpers will need to stand. The closest canister to the Cube in each row will be considered "Position 1". (Most people have been sticking with the binary theme and starting with "Position 0" when calling out positions. This has been confusing in my experience when leading LFG groups. Just stick to non-binary identifications when communicating with people who are unfamiliar with this part of the raid.)
- In the Cube Room, the Leader should explain the following:
- Initiate:
- Next, The Leader should leave the Cube Room and head back to Monitor 2
- Again, reference the Server Farm Map for the Monitor location
- Once the Leader makes their way back to Monitor 2, they should pull up this Server Farm Web App created by user u/pRtkL_xLr8r
- The Leader should click the "Init Positions" button on the Web App to identify where the Jumpers should stand to initiate this process.
- The Leader should explain to the Jumpers that they will be hearing directions in the following format, "Section number, Column number, and Position"
- The Leader should now call out the initial positions to the Jumpers
- Example: Section 0 - Column 2 - Position 3
- Once everyone is on the initial positions, they will hear a "ding" and the monitors will change
- Have the Jumpers go back to the catwalk nearest the Cube, and get ready to listen to the Leader's orders
- The Leader should hit the "Reset" button on the Web App at this time
- Next, The Leader should leave the Cube Room and head back to Monitor 2
- Call Outs:
- Now that the monitors are active, they will display a four digit binary number in the bottom right hand corner of the screen.
- Once activated, the monitors will rotate through 4 sets of numbers, corresponding to the column and position for each section in the Cube Room (starting with section 00 and counting up until section 03)
- Have the Monitor Reader activate the monitors and read their numbers off exactly as they are displayed on their screen
- The Leader will click the rectangle next to "Left" in the Web App until it reaches the value dictated by the Monitor Reader
- At the same time, the Leader will do the same thing for their monitor value for the rectangle next to "Right"
- Once both values are in, the Leader will hit the "Enter" button for that section
- At this time, one of the positions on the Web App will be highlighted
- The Leader then calls out this position to the Jumpers
- The Jumpers follow the Leader's call outs until all four (4) jumpers are in position
- The Jumpers must land directly onto the correct position without touching any other canisters
- The time between when the monitors show a number and the when the Jumper needs to be standing on their canister is about 30 seconds. Don't waste time here
- Once everyone is in place, wait about 15 seconds and the Cube will open
- Now that the monitors are active, they will display a four digit binary number in the bottom right hand corner of the screen.
- Monitor 4 and a chest are waiting inside the Cube
How to Open Cube

- There are three (3) one per section - Left, Middle, and Right
- Increased health for Adds
- Increased damage output for Adds
- Revives are disabled
Tactics/Strategy:
- General Tips/Info
- The SIVA Turrets can be disabled with one (1) charged Cannon shot

- The turrets will begin glowing red when they are starting to reactivate
- When the turrets reactivate, you will see a large red circle on your minimap
- The SIVA Turrets can be disabled with one (1) charged Cannon shot
- Game Plan:
- Run this encounter the exact same way as you would in Normal Mode
- The only exception is that everyone should watch out for the SIVA Turrets, and prioritize them as soon as they reactivate
- If your fireteam wants, you can dedicate a single person on each side to always keep track of their SIVA Turret. (The Bomb Thrower is usually the default choice for turret duty)
- Run this encounter the exact same way as you would in Normal Mode

- Very similar to the last round of the first Aksis encounter
- Very similar to the last round of the first Aksis encounter
- You need to hit Aksis with seven (7) bombs to take his shield down
- Increased health for Adds & Aksis
- Increased damage output for Adds & Aksis
- Revives are disabled
Tactics/Strategy:
- General Tips/Info
- The Servitors despawn once Aksis starts teleporting
- The SIVA Turrets from the first Aksis encounter do not activate during this encounter
- Bombs despawn after about 20 seconds when left on the ground
- You can delay throwing the seventh bomb to take down Aksis's shield until everyone gets into position.
- The Servitors despawn once Aksis starts teleporting
- Game Plan
- For a great infographic for position/callouts/duties please check out u/justinlaforge's post AKSIS PHASE 2 - INFOGRAPHIC v2 - Updated with the community's tips and tricks
- Utilize the same strategies as you would for Normal Mode
- Utilize communication as you are throwing bombs. It is very important for everyone to be in position before bomb number seven is thrown.
- You will have less cannon ammo during the DPS Phases, so please utilize damage modifiers to the best of your ability. See u/lazyguy797's post The Numbers Behind Damage in Destiny for more information on this topic. Your best bet is to use Weapons of Light, Tether, and Viking Funeral Grenades. Read the post, he explains it MUCH better than I do.
