Xbox Live Networking Ports for Xbox One
Not sure when Microsoft updated the Xbox website with XO support information, but a lot of content is there. Below are the ports needed to get your Xbox One set to open. Use these if you like to set ports manually. Some people will able to simply plug and play (UPnP), so it's not for everyone.
Xbox Live requires the following ports to be open:
◦Port 88 (UDP)
◦Port 3074 (UDP and TCP)
◦Port 53 (UDP and TCP)
◦Port 80 (TCP)
◦Port 500 (UDP)
◦UDP Port 3544 (UDP)
◦UDP Port 4500 (UDP)
If you're asking yourself what good this will do.
Think of ports like a door and packets, the little bits of information sent between two sources, as a conversation. If your door is closed, then the conversation doesn't happen. If your door is open, then the conversation will happen. Please ignore all forms of reality, e.g. screendoors or mail-slots, and accept my solid oak door existence in this scenario.
Why should I do this? Call of Duty should do this for me!
These ports are for just about everything on Xbox Live. Regardless of what game you're playing, you'll more than likely use these ports. The benefit is that your system is ready to go before launch. Yes, UPnP should open these automatically, but I've always been a manual kind of person. If Call of Duty uses additional ports then I'll edit this thread for your benefit.
What happens if I don't do this and UPnP doesn't open them?
Then you might not be able to talk to friends, join their parties or even matchmake properly. Opening ports isn't hard, but you'll need to know a bit about networking and a few passwords dependent on your setup. Google is your friend.
